Minarets Highway Wildflower Report

Calphoto had the following wildflower report for Minarets Highway:

Minarets Highway out of North Fork (near Bass Lake)
No really spectacular displays, but there were wildflowers to be seen. Here’s
what I saw the most of, and where (elevations approximate):

  • 1,000′ – 3,000′: Fort Miller Clarkia, Buckeye
  • 3,000′: Flannelbush
  • 3,000′ – 4,000′: Showy Phlox
  • 3,000′ – 5,000′: Mountain Misery, various lupines, iris
  • 4,000′ – 6,000’+: Pussypaws

Lovely stand of azaleas along West Fork Chiquito Creek, on the horseshoe bend
downstream from Soda Springs Campground. Nice assortment of flowers (Showy
Phlox, Pretty Face, Cinquefoil, iris) by the road that turns off just before
Clearwater Fire Station. Lots of Jewel Flower up on Fuller Buttes.
