Owens Lake Spring Big Day April 25

via Audublog ~ California birders get set for annual Owens Lake Spring Big Day, April 25.

“Volunteers from all over California are invited to take part in the annual Owens Lake Spring Big Day, April 25. The only requirement is that you need to be able to identify the birds of Owens Lake. This is a great way to see one of the great spectacles of spring migration, and do your part to help bird populations at one of the state’s most fascinating habitat areas. The valuable data that we gather will be used in the management of habitat and birds by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Audubon, State Lands Commission and the California Department of Fish and GameA DFG.

Details below: For more information, contact Eastern Sierra Audubon’s Mike Prather at 760 876-5807, or just show up. The group will meet at 7 a.m. at the Diaz Lake parking lot three miles south of Lone Pine on Hwy 395. We will have a brief intro and then get out on the lake in small groups.”
