Bear Valley/Walker Ridge Wildflower Report 4-16-12

Calphoto has a wildflower bloom update for Bear Valley and Walker Ridge. Here are the highlights:

“The flowers on Walker Ridge are few & small due to lack of rain, major fire in the last couple of years & it is late in the season for most of them.

Bear Valley flowers are pretty nice in a few areas on the valley floor. Not the best I have seen but well worth the trip. Suggest shooting in morning light as most of the bloom is West of the Bear Valley Road. Some nice small patches of poppies with good dark color along the edge of the road. The fields have mostly yellow & blue/purple flower masses. Plan to drive the length of the valley floor to find the best spots, although most are in the southern half of the valley.”
