Great Smoky Wildflower Report

Great Smoky Mountains Association  posted a wildflower update for March 20

Spring ephemeral wildflowers are now near peak at favorite viewing places like Chimneys Picnic Area Cove Hardwood Nature Trail, Deep Creek, Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, Oconaluftee River Trail, Porters Creek Trail, Little River Road, Cucumber Gap Loop, and other lower elevation sites.This years bloom is a good three to four weeks earlier than average. You don’t want to wait until mid-April to do your spring wildflower viewing this year.Species in bloom include spring-beauty, white trillium, hepatica, violets, fringed phacelia, cut-leaved tooth-wort, and bishops cap.
