Northern Arizona Wildflower Update 3/5/12

March 5, 2012, Paul at Boyce Thompson Arboretum has a new wildflower bloom report:

“Mexican Goldpoppies are waning in the easy-to-reach foothills along Silver King Mine road and below Peachville Mountain four miles north of Superior — and hikers in good condition can reach a mountainside bloom covering the upper western half of Peachville, or hike the Arizona Trail below Montana Mountain to access southeast facing hillsides there which appear to be at peak. Silver King Mine Road remains a fun spot for closeups and “friends in Spring flowers” portraits …blooming Chia Salvia columbariae along the road along with chicory, phacelia, bluedicks, berberis, dodder and other March flowers”
