The San Jose Mercury News reported that the California Fish and Game Commission, Daniel W. Richards, shot a lion in Northern Idaho. Although hunting mountain lions is legal in Idaho, it is not legal in California. State Fish and Game has been getting many calls asking that Richards be removed. The Humane Society has called for his resignation. An assemblyman is considering a resolution to remove Richards. Richards has been a supporter of expanded hunting in California. The Mercury News also reported that “In 2012 , His former business partner was indicted, along with three other men on charges of bribery, conflict of interest, tax fraud, tax evasion, perjury and forgery.”
