Sky and Telescope reports that, Eros, the first near-earth asteroid, discovered by humans is now visible. It will brightest from January 25 to February 13th. It is closest to earth on January 31, which will be about seventy times the distance to the moon. This is the closest Eros will be to Earth since January 1975 and its last close pass until January 2056.
