Birding at Cesar Chavez Park
I was at Cesar Chavez Park today hoping to see Burrowing Owls. No such luck. They were not to be found. Last year I did much better (see Birding at Cesar Chavez Park). If anyone knows if the owls are there this year could you let me know.
What I did see were lots of White-Crowned Sparrow, Bufflehead, Ruddy Duck, American Coot, Horned Grebe and California Ground Squirrel. Also seen were American Wigeon, an unidentified tern, Great White Egret, Turkey Vulture, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Common Goldeneye, Brown Pelican, American Crow, House Finch, and possibly a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Two native plants were in bloom: a Gum Plant and Ceanothus.
On the way out along the south of University Av. before the Freeway were Whimbrel, Avocet, Black-bellied Plover, Dowitcher, American Coot and Gulls.

Thanks Lisa. I also have gotten a report from Rusty Scalf that there are burrowing owls have been seen at Cesar Chavez as well. I just didn’t get to see them.
