Record Number Of Whale Sightings In Southern California

The L.A. Times reports there have been a record number of gray whale sightings in southern California. Spotters in Point Vicente in Rancho Palos Verdes have seen 163 gray whales this year exceeding the record of 133 in 1996 and many more than the 26 seen by this time last year. The whales are especially early this year as the normal whale watching season doesn’t start until late December.
