Jumping Cockroach Discovered

A cockroach (Saltoblattella montistabularis) has been discovered in the Silvermine Nature Reserve in the Table Mountain National Park in South Africa that has incredible jumping ability.  It can jump up to 50 times its body length as opposed to a grasshopper who can only jump 20 times its body length.

The leaping grasshopper is just four tenths of an inch long and has large back legs that make up 20 percent of its total body weight. The cockroach lives in grasslands and its diet is grasshopper droppings.
