Birding Hayward Regional Shoreline 12/12/11

Yesterday I went birding at Hayward Regional Shoreline. We started by the visitors center and walked along the road. We had to share the road with large trucks as work was being done further in.  Actually, the road was closed, but I didn’t notice that.  Someone else in the group did but we chose to ignore it.  We only lasted about an hour as it started to rain.  Birds seen were Snowy Egret, Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, Least Sandpiper, Black-necked Stilt, Mallard, American Avocet, Northern Shoveler, Bonaparte’s Gull, Western Grebe, Long-billed Curlew, Green-winged Teal, American Wigeon, Marbled Godwit, Willet, Double-crested  Cormorant, White-tailed Kite, and other Gulls(possibly California and/or Ring-billed).
