The Royals Society for the Protection of Birds recently reported on the decline of farm birds. Turtle doves, whose population is only seven percent of what it was in 1970 are now the most threatened farmland bird. Last year alone saw a 21% drop in Turtle Dove population. Grey Partridges, Tree Sparrows and Corn Buntings have also experienced steep population drops.
Total farmland bird populations are at fifty percent of what they were in 1970. UK woodland bird populations have also declined to 81 percent of original levels.
