First stop was Tepco Beach, which is part of Pt. Isabel. Tepco Beach is know for the numerous ceramic fragments from the defunct Tepco Porcelain and China Ware Company. Birds seen were Willet, Spotted Sandpiper, Brown Pelican, Horned Grebe, Western Grebe, Ruddy Duck, Western Gull, Bufflehead, American Coot, American Crow and Surf Scoter.
Next stop was the Albany Waterfront area in the “plateau” and “neck” areas. Tide was still fairly high so we didn’t get out to the bulb. Birds seen here were White-crowned Sparrow,Dark-eyed Junco, American Coot, Western Grebe, Brown Pelican, Western Gull, Ring-billed Gull (?), California Towhee, Turkey Vulture, House Finch, Anna’s Hummingbird, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Crow, Snowy Egret, Ruddy Duck, Black Phoebe, Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Green-winged Teal, American Widgeon, Mallard, and American Avocet. The best birding was just before leaving in protected area right near the freeway. It included numbers of all of the waterfowl mentioned at the end of the above list.
