Its a Good Year For Water Birds

Tom Stienstra of the S.F. Chronicle reports that this is a very promising birding season. Estimates are that this year will see a duck population that is 11 percent greater than last year and 35 percent greater than the long-term average.   He says that

“…low tides in late afternoon this weekend and on Thanksgiving week will unveil miles of bay mudflats and provide vast feeding grounds for shorebirds and waterfowl”
