Large Dam Removal Will Restore Salmon Runs

Olympic National Park will begin the largest dam-removal project in history on September 15. The Elwha and Glines Canyon dams on the Elwha River will be taken down and will open the river to salmon runs. Almost 1000 dams have been removed in the U.S. but this will be the largest project to date and may serve as a model for future projects.  Read more at National Geographic Largest U.S. Dam Removal to Restore Salmon Runs.
