UC Botanical Garden Flowers 7/2/11 (Updated 7/3/11)

Updated 7/3/11
(with corrections and  additions to flower ID and link to better slideshow)

I visited the  UC Botanical Garden (Berkeley,CA) today.  I went to the Redwood section first having enjoyed being there recently for one of the outdoor Summer Redwood Grove Concerts.  Although I enjoy walking through the peaceful redwoods and looking at the shady forest plants, what really got my attention was the Clarkia display right inside the gate. (The Redwood Grove is across the road from the main garden. Go to the admission window to get the combination to the gate)

The main garden had many flowers in bloom and I probably saw only half the garden at best. I spend most of the time in Asia, Eastern U.S. and California. I especially liked seeing the Lilies, California and Matilija Poppies.  There are many roses in bloom. The rose section is currently a lot better than the Berkeley Rose Garden, which was mostly past bloom when I went there last night. H
