Natural History Wanderings

Yesterday afternoon I visited the Regional Parks Botanic Garden at Tilden Park.  I found there were still Calochortus in bloom.   Lilies  have started to bloom and I saw both Leopard Lily Lilium pardalinum and Alpine Lily Lilium parvum.  Some of the other flowers that drew my attention were the Matilija Poppies, Clarkia and Yerba Mansa.  It was bright and sunny so when I started photographing I did a combination of working with backlit flowers, using a diffuser when possible for sunlit close-ups and looking for flowers in the shady redwood section.  Here are some of my better results:
