Salt Point Bloom Update

A report for wildflower bloom at Salt Point was posted on Calphoto:

“Yesterday, we checked out Salt Point, still lot’s of Rhododendrons in flower,
only a few Clintonias, mostly with green berries, but lot’s of Coastal (?)
Lilies. Again many clumps of coral roots. Depending on the time of day, you can
take the South route (go straight at the water tanks-best in the Morning), or
cut through to the North route (follow the signs to the Pygmy forest) along the
tanks and circle back along the South route. Because this is second growth
redwood transitioning into pygmy forest and coastal dunes, there are lots of
open areas with flowers, either in full sun or easy the light with a screen, the
seeps with high mineral content and pygmy forest with its stunted trees and
shrubs make nice scenery too. Note it is steep getting there and the trails are
rutted and in locations wet and muddy.”

Calphoto requires joining to have access to all of its reports.  I strongly recommend joining this Yahoo discussion group if you are interested in photographing and following wildflowers.
