Lyrids Meteor Shower April 16-25; Peak April 22

The Lyrids meteor shower peak on Thursday, April 22.  The best time to view the Lyrids is just before dawn regardless of where you live.  The Lyrids meteor shower is caused by Earth going through the dusty tail of Comet Thatcher.  The rate is about 12 or more meteors per hour. The meteor showers may be seen any night from April 16 to 25.  The Lyrids are one of the oldest documented meteor showers with records of it appearing 27 centuries ago.
