Birding Hayward Regional Shoreline

Today the Bay Area Birding class went to the Hayward Regional Shoreline.  The shoreline consists of 1713 acres of salt, fresh, and brackish water marshes, seasonal wetlands and public trails.  We parked at the north end of the park and walked along the water’s edge heading south and saw mainly shorebirds.  Fifty-six species were spotted by the group.  Especially numerous were Northern Pintails, Marbled Godwits, American Avocets, Long-billed Dowitchers, Black-bellied Plovers, and Willets. For today’s complete list go to:  http://www.wingbeats.org/classes/lists/11winter.htm Here is a slideshow of some of what I saw.
