Proposals for new and expanded desert National Parks and Monuments in California

California Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein have proposed increased desert and expanded protection for California desert areas. They have proposed that

• Pinnacles National Monument be made into a  National Park
• Two new National Monuments: Mojave National  Trails Monument (941,000 acres) and Sand to Snow National Monument (134,000 acres)
• Expand Death Valley National Park, Joshua Tree National Park and Mojave National Preserve
