Fall Color at the UC Botanical Garden
After the Fungus Fair we went to the nearby UC Botanical Garden (Berkeley,CA). The highlight was the fall color in the Asian section around the pond. Here are a few photos I took with a compact camera.

Hi Sandy. Those are very nice colors. I went there once about six years ago but didn’t come away with any keepers.

Thanks for your comment. Two other visitors had commented that they felt this was an exception or the best year they had seen. My visit was a last minute unplanned visit and the photos were taken with a compact Panasonic camera.

I may have already mentioned this. But here goes again. I went to a wonderful
lecture on fall colors in Japan by a guest speaker at the garden. She showed beautiful slides about the art, clothing, design, and literature in Japan using autumn (especially maple) leaves.
The most interesting part was that the speaker (sorry-forgot to look her name up, but shes on the garden website) told us that the autumn leaves celebrations and expeditions were just as, if not more, important as the cherry blossom celebrations.
Beautiful slides of big family groups celebrating in the parks.The colors of our street Japanese maples and Liquidambars great right now,likely because of the cold we’ve had.

First off, these are fantastic shots! They make me realize that one doesn’t usually think of going to Asia for fall colors, but if the continent is anything like the Asia area at the Garden, it should be a fall destination.
