Playing Possum
Yesterday we noticed a gray furry creature sticking out of a yogurt container in a tall recycling bin in my back yard. It was an Opossum and had managed to climb in but couldn’t get out.. At first it looked like it might be dead as it was not moving. Than I noticed a slow breathing pattern. I put the bin on its side so if the creature was OK he could escape. In a short time it was gone. On further research I learned that playing dead (possum) is a strategy they use when their claws and 50 teeth are not successful at deterring threats.
