Meghan has studied and tracked wildlife throughout the US and internationally for over 20 years and has been particularly drawn to the study of bears.
The American black bear (Ursus americanus) has been expanding its range along the Sonoma Coast where grizzly bears once roamed. As humans continue to expand their range into these same wild spaces, there will be more opportunities for human/bear interactions. Much has been learned over the years on how humans and black bears can best coexist and how we can have appropriate encounters with them. Join The Wildlands Conservancy and Sonoma Land Trust, partners in the conservation of wild spaces along the Sonoma Coast, in welcoming Meghan Walla-Murphy to teach us more about the behavior and range of black bears, as well as what we can do to improve human/bear interactions.
