In a charred moonscape, a band of hopeful workers try to save the Joshua tree 

NPR report on the impact of York Fire and the difficult efforts to replant Joshua Trees in the Mohave National Preserve. 80%  of the roughly 1,900 Joshua trees planted in the burn scar of the Dome Fire have died.
