Over the past two years I have developed a special interest in White-throated Sparrows. After years of only seeing them on rare occasions they have become regular winter residents in our yard. What is especially fascinating is they have a unique genetic mutation that impact their mating behavior. There are two subtypes of the bird that are coloured differently, behave differently and mate only with the opposite morph.
