The Hite Cove trail bloom is starting; some of everything you would expect to see in early to mid spring is in place, even though the Merced River canyon shows almost no flowers yet.

Natural History Wanderings 
What condition is the trail itself in? This winter has been pretty rough on hillsides. I’d like to take this walk if the trail hasn’t suffered too much.

I only did the first two miles. The trail was in relatively good condition. If you have never done it, it is narrow with some steep but short up and downs, some slippery footings and easy stream crossings.
