Tips For Visiting Death Valley

Submitted by Janet Cupples

The Death Valley visitor center has an inexpensive foldup brochure of photos of all the flowering plantsJ

We stay in Beatty, Nevada, which is relatively close to the Valley, cheap, and has at least 3 decent Motels. It is closer than some of the places you mentioned. People just need to go to the Beatty website. It is located just over the eastern border into Nevada, via Mud Canyon ( a recommended place for wildflowers )..

The town is never crowded! And oh, is the gas cheap!!!

There is a huge ghost town, Rhyolite, …just of the road, several miles into Nevada. It has some interesting modern sculptures

Beatty is also a wonderful place to start from, if you want to drive Titus Canyon, breathtaking ride, with a “ghost town”, but for high clearance vehicles! It goes from probably 3,500’ to just above sea level, so it is most interesting. It is one-way, starting from the top.
