Today we went birding at Pt. Isabel Regional Shoreline. The habitat there consists of Coastal Shoreline, Mudflats, Coast Scrub and Marsh.
We had hope to see Ridgway’s Rail due to the King Tides but none were to be found by us or any of the other birders we spoke with. We did see five Wilson’s Snipe at the island in the Bay opposite Meeker’s Slough. Most abundant birds were Ruddy Duck, Greater Scaup, American Coot, Western Gull and White-crowned Sparrows. Say’s Phoebe and Semi-palmated plover were firsts for us at this location. It continues to be one of my favorite places to bird and I now have a list of 111 birds for Pt. Isabel.
