Cedar Waxwing Madness Photos

It was Cedar Waxwing Madness today in my front yard. They were doubly pleased with the Toyon Fruit and Bird Bath.

That’s excellent Sandy. Looks like they could use a little more water in that bath. I wish the waxies would take a liking to our neighbor’s lilly pilly tree. It makes millions of pink berries, although they don’t really turn ripe until winter (being an Australian native), when I think the waxies have moved on.

Yes the bird bath did need and now has more water. We tend to leave the water in our bird baths on the low side to avoid accidental drowning of small birds. The birds can splash a lot out especially when there are six or more in the bath.

Cedar Waxwings are around our area from Fall to Spring. I checked my eBird postings and found I have seen recorded Waxwings from Oct. 16 to May 10 in my neighborhood in the North Berkeley Flatlands. Hopefully, some will still be in your neighborhood when your neighbor’s tree has fruit.
