Birding Creekside Park 9/21/15

Today I went birding in Creekside Park in Albany, CA. It was warm and not that early so birds were not that active. 14 species were identified. Best birds were Townsend Warblers. Earlier in the week Gold-crowned Sparrow and Fox Sparrow had been seen but neither were found today. I likely missed a number of species that I couldn’t identify the calls or didn’t get good looks in the trees. In addition to birds there was also Monarch Butterfly and many Dragonflies and Squirrels.

It is an urban park with a mixed habitat of woodland and creek. There are both native and alien trees and shrubs including Willow, Buckeye, Coast Live Oak, Coyote Bush, Blue Elderberry with berries, Eucalyptus, Blackberry, Rose with rosehips, Big Leaf Maple and Liquidamber.
