Marin CNPS has a wildflower trip report for March 6 at Chimney Rock at Point Reyes National Seashore.
There were 62 species of flowering plants to be seen, such as Lasthenia californica ssp. californica (Goldfields), Sanicula arctopoides (Footsteps-of-Spring), Sidalcea malviflora ssp. malviflora (Dwarf Checker-bloom), Triphysaria eriantha var. rosea (Pelican flower), Cerastium viride (Spring-snow), Iris douglasiana (Douglas’ Iris), Delphinium decorum (Coast Larkspur), and Wyethia angustifolia (Mule’s Ears). However some species such as the Calochortus tolmiei (Pussy-ears Star Tulip) were sparse, presumably due to the lack of rain. Some were also fortunate to see a Peregrine Falcon and the uncommon Brown Booby bird.
