Jepson Prairie & Rockville Trails Wildflower Updates 2/13/15

Solano Land Trust Flickr site reports

Jepson Prairie  Blooming are shooting stars, yellow carpet, Golded violets, biscuit root. Not many waterfowl right now although some Cormorant were observed perched on a dead tree, north end of the Preserve on the West side of Cook Lane, near Barker Slough.

Rockville Trails the best spots for growth and bloom are on rocky outcrops. Observed popcorn flower blooming over a wide area, Gilia and Dichelostemma are blooming. Look to wet, exposed rocky areas for Mimulus guttatus. The quarry was better than expected. On top of the southernmost portion there was Lewisia up and growing, Minuartia, Lasthenia, Collinsia, Micranthes or Saxifrage (I’m still trying to ID) and a new plant for the list, Athysanus pusillus or Common sandweed. On the slope below the rock there was also Lasthenia, Nemophila, popcorn flower and buttercups.
