There were nine different birds in the backyard while eating breakfast including five that were not seen elsewhere today. Backyard Bird List 10/21/14. Best yard bird today was the Hermit Thrush who has appeared fairly often in the last week. I think he likes the Toyon berries.

We spent a good part of the day at Martin Luther King Regional Shoreline where we saw 53 different birds and many birders. First we went to Arrowhead Marsh for the high tide. We saw Thirty-three different species including three Ridgway’s Rails (formerly Clapper Rails), a Sora and Swamp Sparrow (which was a new life bird). 33 birds at Arrowhead Marsh

Next we went to Garretson Pt. at Martin Luther King Regional Shoreline where we saw  34 birds at Garretson Pt. This included a number of Cinnamon Teal displaying. A Blue-winged Teal has been reported for this area but no one saw it while we were there.

The final species was Wild Turkey. Ten were under the BART tracks, on a fence and the hood of a car on Masonic Avenue in Albany.
