Awesome Autumn has a new fall color report for Plumas County for October 1.

Each day is bringing a little more fall our way – to say nothing of the nights – it was 32 degrees in Portola this morning! We havent had many reports of fall color yet, so we can predict when the peak color will arrive, but best guess is sometime between October 15 and 20 this year. The drought makes it very difficult – some trees and shrubs are turning early and some seem to be waiting a while.A leaf peeper from Portola reported that Highway 89 between Truckee and Sierraville is looking good. The aspen are turning a nice yellow in spots.
