- Forster’s Terns diving and fishing were the highlight of today’s walk along the Berkeley section of the Bay Trail. We went between Gilman and University including Berkeley Meadow and Virginia Street Extension. We started right after high tide and had hoped to see shorebirds. The numbers were low but the walk was enjoyable. I always enjoy photographing Mallards as when the light catches them just right they glow. 22 Species were identified. One bird in the willows in Berkeley Meadow had wing bars and a slightly peaked head but was not at all sure about what it was.
- Maybe a flycatcher?
- The only butterfly with a definite ID was the always present Cabbage White. Anise Swallowtails were likely. Flowers in bloom included Gumplant, Coyote Bush, Lizardtail, Goldenrod and Zauschneria or California Fuchsia.
