Last weekend I went birding at Wakodahatchee Wetlands and Green Cay Nature Center while on a visit to Florida. Both are excellent birding areas. There were less birds than when I have visited in the winter. However, there were many good views of Herons and Egrets and the opportunity to see birds on nests. Highlights for me were seeing a number of Wood Storks at Wakodahatchee and a Least Bittern at Green Cay. It is always nice to get a chance to see some birds I don’t see at home. I recognized 14 species at Wakodahatchee and thirteen at Green Cay.
