ScienceDaily reported on the discovery of a new plant, Piper kelleyi, in the Andes mountains in Ecuador. It is a relative of the black pepper that we use on our food. What is amazing is that it is “sole home of an estimated 40-50 insect species, most of which are entirely dependent on this plant species for survival.”
