Calphoto has two new reports for Marin County:
Pt. Reyes:
Chimney Rock The Iris are still up, and are in good company. Pussy Ears, Indian Paintbrush, Flax, Blue Eyed Grasses (thousands) Cow Parsnip, Sea Thrift, California Poppy, Rigid Hedge Nettle, Yarrow, Red Maids, Scarlet Pimpernel, and many others abound along the entire hillside. We actually hear the Elephant Seals from the fork to Chimney Rock, and saw 4 baby/mom whale pairs in Drakes Bay. . We spent a good two hours just enjoying the whales which were closer than 200 yards from the end of Chimney Rock. The Seals were hauled out on every beach.
Lighthouse from the parking lot the wildflowers above Point Reyes Beach included Lupines, California Poppies, Sea Thrift, Sour Grass and Flowering Succulents. The grey whales were within 100 yards of the beach and the cliffs,
Ring Mountain:
last weekend. It is beautiful right now, The wildflowers are everywhere, Phacelia, California Poppy, Frying Pan Poppy, Yarrow, Lupines, Flax, Tidy Tips, Cream Cups, Red Maids, even Chinese Houses were in bloom. The Mariposa Lilies are in bud, I know they are slow to show and in this whiplash weather we are having it may be a month before they begin to show.
