Solano Land Trust Bloom Update

Hiked Rockville Trails and Lynch Canyon last week. The bloom season is moving toward it’s seasonal curtain call. The late rains have rejuvenated some species.

Lynch Canyon: There are a few plants that were blooming at Lynch. Balsam root, Iris, Sheherd’s needle, Blue-eyed grass, Lomatium, Yarrow, Wyethia (mule ears), Purple Sanicle, Woodland stars and a few buttercups.

Rockville Trails: RT is still blooming in a few spots with some mid-season plants showing as well as some of the late spring plants showing bloom. Earlier this week there were a plethora of Dichelostmma species in bloom (Blue dicks, Snake lily and Ookow bells), the Viburnum ellipticum is nearing full bloom, Helianthella californica, Calystegia (Pacific false bindweed or morning glory), Calochortus amabilis (Golden fairy lantern) are profuse in certain areas, Red Delphinium or Canyon larkspur, Lomatium repostum or Napa biscuit root, Clarkia purpurea, trailing snowberry, Harmonia nutans or nodding Harmonia, Minuartia doulgasii or Douglas’ sandwort, Castilleja exserta or Dense flower owl’s clover or paintbrush, Lewisia redivide or bitter root, Micropus californcus or Slender cotton weed or Q tips, Scutellaria siphocampyloides or Gray leaved skullcap, Phacleia distans or Common phacelia, Lomatium californium or Celery weed, Triteleia laxa or Purple hyacinth or Ithureil’s spear, Aesculus californica or California buckeye and Stachys or stinging Nettle.

Flora showing foliage include Navarretia pubescent or Downy pincushion plant, Erigeron boletti or Streamside daisy, Monardella species or wild mint, Rosa spithemea or Sonoma Rose, Calycadenia truncata or Western rosin weed,Polygonum berlanderi or Berlander’s polygonum, Lotus species, Solanum species or Nightshade family, Hpericum concinuum or Goldwire, Scattered and sparse patches of Mimulus guttatus or Seep monkeyflower and Clematis lasiantha or chaparral clematis
