Birding San Mateo County 2/16/14

Today the Golden Gate Raptor Class went birding along the San Mateo Coast. We went to the Fitzgerald Marin Reserve. Highlights consisted of seeing a White-throated Sparrow, watching Red Shouldered Hawks  mating and having a number of good looks at White-tailed Kites and Northern Harriers. There were very scenic coastal views from the viewpoint at Cowell-Purisima Coastal Trail. Below are my species lists. I am sure I missed more than a few species especially later in the day.

Fitzgerald Marine Reserve 41 species ( the Hummingbird sp. is probably an Allen’s)

Blufftop 10 species

Cowell-Purisima Coastal Trail 13 species

Wavecrest 9 species
