Birding Green Cay Again 1/19/14

On 1/19/13 I went back to Green Cay Wetlands and saw twenty-three different birds, three alligators, a number of turtles and a racoon.  I also saw a Muscovy Duck hanging out in front of the door to a Publix supermarket. To see today’s bird list go to: Green Cay Wetlands Bird List 1/19/14. I will post photos from my Florida Birding walks later this week.

Green Cay Wetlands is in Boynton Beach in Palm Beach County in southern Florida. Green Cay Wetlands  is the old Green Cay Farm that was owned by Ted and Trudy Winsberg.  When the farms around them were being converted into housing developments they preferred to restore their land to open prairie with wetland similar to how it had been previous to farming. There is a 1.5-mile elevated boardwalk through the wetland and a nature center.
