The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Bald Eagles in northern Utah are dying at an increasing rate. Twelve have died since December first from unknown causes.
Six died or were euthanized in rehabilitation centers after suffering from head tremors, lower extremity paralysis and digestive issues. Six were found dead
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is exploring all possible causes is and is waiting for necropsy results on bald eagles sent to the National Wildlife Health Center. Some preliminary tests showed the birds were suffering from lead poisoning but this is probably not the main cause of death.
