Today I went to the San Francisco Botanic Garden in Golden Gate Park. I was hoping to see e plants in bloom in the cloud forest area but the wind and rain had pretty much done them in. Although there were other flowers in bloom today, what got my attention were some of the birds. There was a Townsend’s Warbler who kept feeding by the entrance and allowed me to get close. There were also six Hooded Mergansers in the Pond. I was even able to find an Anna’s Hummingbird who slowed down enough to let me take its picture. There was bird song throughout the garden. Other birds seen today included Mallards, Canadian Goose, Coo,t Raven, Crow, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Black Phoebe, Song Sparrow and Rock Dove. There were many more but I didn’t have binoculars and wasn’t sure on my other ID’s. There is still some fall color; the Ginkgo was especially nice.
