KCET’s Socal Wander blog has some early season monarch butterfly counts:
- Pismo Beachestimated 34,000 monarchs at its grove on Tuesday. (more than there was during the entire 2012-2013 season)!\
- Goletad 500 monarch at the city’s grove.
- Pacific Grove, some 3,400 monarchs were estimated at the end of October
- 800 monarchs were seen near Coopers Cabin in Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur.
