Rat Eradication To Save Seabirds

The BBC reports that rat eradication is  underway to kill over 3,000 rats and protect  seabird populations on two of the Isles of Scilly. The greatest threat to the seabirds has been predation of eggs and chicks by brown rats. Fourteen species of seabirds including Manx shearwaters are found on the islands.
