New York City Fall Color Peaking 12/30/13

The New York Times  reports that the New York City’s leaf-peeping season is hitting its peak. They expect this coming weekend to the year’s most colorful in the city parks. One trail mentioned to see fall foliage is Aqueduct Trail in Van Corlandt Park in the Bronx. They report High Rock Park on Staten Island, has early turning ash and elm that are being joined by the yellows of persimmon and tulip tree, orange-tipped oak and the deep blood-scarlet of red maple. The city has 2.5 million trees on public land. They also reported that fall color is finished in the Catskills.
