Urban Birds Handled Cold, Wet Weather Better Than Woodland Birds

The BBC reported on a study that found “Urban Scavenger” birds that rely less on one food source did better than their Woodland counterparts during cold, wet winters. The study compared Blue Tits and Great Tits in woodlands with those in Cambridge. The urban birds depended less on one food source and had better survival rates than the woodland ones. The urban birds also had higher breeding rates than their woodland counterparts during the cold and wet winters.
