Rio Grande National Forest Fall Color 9/26/13

Rio Grande National Forest  has the following fall color updates:

Conejos Peak District    September 26 – the high country has barely started to change, it is mostly green with some brown in the trees.  No color to speak of.  South end of the Conejos Canyon, there is about 3-5% color change. Estimate peak colors will be 10th-15th of October.

Divide District    September 24- starting to get some colors in the Creede area but just spots, maybe 20% changed -not too spectacular yet !!!  No color change in lower elevations. Estimate one more week for peak color time.

Saguache District       September 24 – East of 285 the Sangre de Cristos are probably the most colorful and the San Juans to the west have some color also.  Estimate one more week for peak color time.
