The Return Of Bald Eagles

NPR has a story on the recovery of Bald Eagles in the U.S. In the 1970’s due to pesticides and hunting there were fewer than 500 nests in the  U.S.

 

As a result of protecting nesting habitat, banning pesticides and stopping shooting of Bald Eagles the birds have made a real recovery. In 2007 Bald Eagles came off the endangered species list and there are more than 10,000 nesting pairs in the continental U.S.
